Covid and Lockdown 2020

These months during lock-down have been extremely difficult for so many people around the world and of course, each and every one of us has our own experience of coping with the effects of this pandemic...I thought I would share mine with you.

I have been very lucky that my students have really embraced the idea of continuing their lessons 'face to face' through the wonders of online technology. At first I thought this might be problematic but with a few adaptations to technique and allowing for slight delay in transmission, I have to say that it has been working really well on both sides of the screen. The flexibility that it provides in terms of convenience for the student and myself has been one of the positives and in some cases, we have agreed that, even when lock-down has eased, a combination of online and home visits could be the way forward.

For all musicians, performing and sharing our love of music with a live audience is the ultimate pleasure, be it in a small intimate gathering or larger more formal setting. I have not yet caught up with the art of presenting a virtual performance but I am working on it and aim to try this out on my Youtube channel...will keep you posted.

Like every other artist all of my planned concerts have been cancelled but I am pleased to say that I have been asked to return to the lovely coastal town of Fowey in Cornwall on Friday December 18th 2020. For the third year running I will be providing a free lunchtime recital in aid of the Fowey Festival, with all donations going to the funds for FoweyFest2021.

Fingers crossed that all goes ahead and I look forward to seeing you there.
